This wool is lovely merino wool purchased from Fabrications. It is really soft and has such a deep colour.
The pattern is from an old knitting book I borrowed from my friend Jill. It is very straightforward and shows how simple a knitting pattern can be. I made the women’s pattern and extended the fingers by about an inch. While knitting them I kept holding them up against my hand to make sure they fit. No one wants mittens that are too short!
I think that putting these away for six months after I made them has meant that I have forgotten all the niggles I saw when they were first complete and that means I now love them and I’m very proud of my former self. I think I might try this more often. It shows making things perfectly on season may not be the best thing after all, hurrah! Now to start sewing summer dresses just in time for winter!
